Antithesis

Pronounced: (an-TITH-eh-siss)

Noun:
1. a person or thing that is the direct opposite of someone or something else.
2. a contrast or opposition between two things.
3. a figure of speech in which an opposition or contrast of ideas is expressed by parallelism of words that are the opposites of, or strongly contrasted with, each other, such as “hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all sins”.

Synonyms:
opposite, contrary, counter, negative, obverse, reverse

Example:

“Unwashed and dressed in a ratty hoodie, the young man looked like the antithesis of a well-qualified buyer. It turns out he was a tech millionaire looking for a quick, all-cash deal.”
