Scott’s Thoughts: Connect the Dots

“Again, you can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”

Steve Jobs (1955 − 2011); Co-founder Apple, Inc.

Since the original publication in July 2009, we’ve delivered well over a thousand tips aimed at inspiring, educating, and helping agents succeed. We launched the newsletter in the midst of one of the worst real estate markets in recent history, and it’s been extremely gratifying to see the recovery that’s underway begin to take hold.

I didn’t know when we launched the newsletter where it would go, but I figured if we pitched in to try and help agents learn and experiment with new ideas and technology that the outcome would surely be good. It was, as the late Steve Jobs said in this week’s quote, “trust in something.”

All in all, the dots appear to have connected. Oakley continues to thrive, thanks to the loyalty of our readers and long-time customers, and each week we hear from new agents who are taking their first steps in their brand new market.

Thanks to everyone for reading the newsletter and supporting Oakley. I can’t say for certain how the dots will connect in the future, but if the past four years have been any indication, my trust in things has been well-founded. Let’s continue to make the best decisions we can at the time and help one another out along the way.
